Janada Kennels

Adam

I went to my first dog show when I was 13 years old. The year was 1987. I then helped Clint Livingston for about 3 months. In 1988 I started working for Michael Shepherd. I worked for Michael for 3 summers. I learned a lot from Michael, about life and dogs.

In 1991, I started working for Michael Kemp. I fell in love with one dog Michael showed. Her name was CH. Registry's Lonesome Dove, "Lacey". She was the best dog I have ever had the opportunity to work with.  She had the biggest heart I have ever seen in a dog. She was America's Number One Dog All-Breeds in 1991. She also is the Top Winning Terrier of All-Time with 215 Best In Shows.  Lacey went Best In Show at The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 1992. I worked for Michael for five years.

In 1996, I started working for Scott Sommer. He had worked for Michael for 18 years. Scott is a great teacher and I can't tell you how much he taught me over the years. I could go back right now and I would even learn more. While working for Scott, I won 22 All Breed Best In Shows with all different breeds. My first Best In Show was with a Pomeranian, I was 18 years old. I also won Best in shows with the following breeds: Lakeland Terrier (8), Wire Fox Terrier (1), Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (1), Bichon Frises (11) and Pomeranian (1).

I now live in Manor, TX. It's a small town 11 miles east of Austin. I have teamed up with Janice Hayes. Together we are working on starting our professional dog handling business which we have named Janada Kennels. We look forward to gaining the trust of future clients and assisting in taking their dogs to top.

I started showing dogs at the age of 9. Showing in juniors with a Vizsla, German Shorthaired Pointer and English Springer Spaniel for about 5 years. I had decided this was definitely what I wanted to do with my life. In 1996, I worked for Andrew Doyle on the weekends and was hooked. After graduating, I decided to focus on becoming a handler. I worked for Andrew for four years and I learned on many breeds like Irish, English and Gordon Setters, English Cockers, English Springer and Smooth Fox Terriers.

I decided in 2000 to make a change and moved to Texas and work for Clint Livingston. I worked with Clint for six years with much success. While working there I was able to be part of some great dogs. CH. Magic's Sir-Ly You Jest, a top winning Brittany, winner of 39 All Breed Best In Shows. CH. Pepperhill's Dehra Charmaine, a top winning PBGV, winner of 22 Best In Shows. CH. Luxor's Playmate of The Year, The Top winning Ibizan Hound of All Times with 42 Best In Shows. CH. Afterglows Woody Woodpecker, the Top winning PBGV male of all time with 24 Best In Shows. Also many other number one dogs including Akitas, Cavaliers, Chinese Shar Peis, and Pointers. Having been involved with many record breaking dogs it was a great experience. I have learned a lot from Clint and will always be thankful for having so many great opportunity's. I will never forget 2003 at the Westminster KC, winning the breed with Bunny, then being lucky enough to show Charmaine in the group and placing second behind Bunny. Then I got the show  Bunny in Best In Show because Clint had Jester. It was amazing and I will never forget it!

In 2004, I went to California to work for Bill and Taffe McFadden. I was there for the summer, and in those three months I learned a tremendous amount about scissoring and conditioning terriers and other coated breeds. It was a great experience working with all of them and I will always be thankful to them for all the lessons in grooming.  Also a big thank you to Luke. Your the best!

I have finished many dogs to their championship in several breeds in all groups. Personally I have won Best In Shows on the following breeds: Brittany (1), Ibizan Hound (1) PBGV'S (6). In 2005 I won the Cavalier National Specialty with CH. Miletrees Nolana, the first Cavalier Bitch in the History of the Breed to win the National.

I am looking forward to doing what I have always wanted since I was in juniors and that is to become a professional handler. I love this job and love working with these great show dogs on a daily basis. Adam and I at Janada Kennels look forward to working with new clients and their dogs in pursuit of your goals.
